GOP Requests Time for Lobbyists to Review Health Care Reform

Think Progress today uploaded a video of Senator Pat Roberts, Republican from Kansas, urging that a vote on any legislation be delayed for a few weeks and have the legislation posted on the Finance Committee's website for three days. The amendment was proposed by Senator Bunning, the gentleman you can see sleeping during the proceedings in today's Washington Post. Why would Senator Roberts want to do this? To perhaps share it with his constituents? To have additional time to weigh its merits?

Nope.

He wants it delayed so the lobbyists can review it and get back to him. Sounds like a crazy conspiracy, right? Watch the video:



That's actually his argument. "The people that the providers have hired to keep up with all of the legislation" would be...lobbyists.

Lawrence O'Donnell, filling in for Keith Olbermann on MSNBC's Countdown, interviewed Senator Brown about other tactics the GOP is employing in an effort to delay passage of any legislation:
