Dem Approvals Aren't Great, But...

Regrettably, it's true that both Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid have low approval numbers...Conservatives from Glenn Beck to Rush Limbaugh are extremely eager to point that out at every opportunity they get.

What they fail to mention, however, is the fact that Nancy Pelosi is TWICE as popular as her Republican counterpart, House Minority Leader John Boehner.

Harry Reid's approval rating is a disappointing 31%, but when compared to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's 18%, it doesn't look nearly as abysmal.

The Republican Party's numbers don't fair well against the Democratic Party, either, standing at 22% approval for the GOP and 40% for the Dems.

While these numbers are definitely not where I would like to see the Democrats sitting, I think it is important to realize that the competition is doing even worse.
